Crosby Newell Bonsall

Crosby Newell was born in Queens, New York. She attended the New York University School of Architecture and the American School of Design. After graduating, she worked at an advertising agency. While there, she sold the rights to one of her drawings to a doll manufacturer, and then went on to create a family of dolls. She used these dolls in her first book, "Tell Me Some More" (1961). Over the course of her career, she authored or illustrated over 40 children's books. She was married to George Bonsall, with whom she co-authored some books.
